Q: What's the difference between Mpeg video wizard DVD and Womble Easy DVD?

1. different audience:

EasyDVD - users without very little prior knowledge of video editing.
MVW-DVD - users who are familiar with video editing and need more detailed control.

2. function and feature for both

- Womble's MPEG-2 video smarting rendering to minimize video quality loss and to maximize export speed.

- extensive menu button controls and flexible menu template support.

- fully licensed Dolby AC-3 encoder and MainConcept MPEG-2 video encoder.

3. coverage of function and feature

EasyDVD - has all basic functionality and features, very limited editing support.
MVW-DVD - all the above, plus more advanced controls and full video editing with timeline editor, video transitions, extensive MPEG tools, and more.

4. graphic user interface

EasyDVD - simple, intuitive, and easy-to-use, all functions are explicit.
MVW-DVD - more flexible but higher complexity using extensive context menus.

5. work flow

EasyDVD - a simple and yet flexible 6-step work-flow.
MVW-DVD - no specific sequence of operation, making it hard for starters.

Q: When will there be support for Windows 7 for EasyDVD?

EasyDVD runs on Windows 7 without any known or reported compatibility problem.

However, since the software has been mostly tested on Windows XP and Vista, with rather limited testing on Windows 7, there is still a possibility that you encounter a problem. If that happened, please inform us and we will fix it quickly.

Also, please note that EasyDVD does not take advantage of the 64-bit operations neither from the Windows software nor the CPU hardware. On the other hand,
since it is more or less a generic 32-bit Windows application, and very little dependence on the peculiar features of Windows operating system, this significantly lowers the probability of incompatible when the operating system changes.

Should you encounter compatibility problem, please let us know and we should be able to fix it quickly.

Q: Is it possible to export(copy) that template as file or folder with multiple files from EasyDVD that installed on my home PC and then import it into EasyDVD istalled on my work PC?
This way I wouldn't have to re-create the same template twice.

Currently EasyDVD doesn't support templates export.

As a work around, you can do the following:

1. Save your menu template on your home PC.

2. Go EasyDVD's installation folder, open Configs folder.

(For example, the directory on my computer is: C:\Program Files\Womble Multimedia\EasyDVD\Configs)

3. You will see a file named "MenuTemplates.cfg" in Configs folder. Transfer the MenuTemplates.cfg file into the Configs folder of EasyDVD's installation folder on your work PC.

Now run EasyDVD on your work PC and you will find the template there.

Note: If you have used external file in your menu template, say, background image, you need to transfer that image to your work PC too. Also, you need to open the MenuTemplates.cfg on your work PC and change the background image directory into the actual one on your work PC.

Q: Is Womble EasyDVD project compatible with other Womble products?

It depends.

For example, you could use Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD to compile professional looking movies from your existing personal videos, images, and audio files, and then burn the exported files to DVD with Womble EasyDVD. In addition, a DVD project, which is identified by the '.wbd' file name extension, is interoperable in both Womble EasyDVD and MVW-DVD.

However, you cannot open or import the MVW-DVD project file, which is identified by the 'wbp' file name extension, using Womble EasyDVD till now.

Q: Why didn't the mark-in, mark-out marker and the cut button work in the Source step?

In Womble EasyDVD, there are two play mode in the Source window: Movie Mode and Clip Mode. When the video player is in the Movie Mode, the play button color is in blue and the trim related function (such as the mark-in, mark-out buttons and the cut button) are disabled.

To solve this problem, you should switch the Movie Mode to the Clip Mode by selecting a video clip in the Clip List or pressing 'V' on the keyboard for shortcut. As the play button will become yellow and all the functions will be available when the video player is in the Clip Mode.

For a better understanding of the play mode, please consult the related section "Video Player" in the Source Chapter of the HTML Help document by pressing the F1 function key on the keyboard. Since the Help system is context sensitive, F1 will bring you to the page most relevant to the current software window or selected software function.
